Retailers want their associates to deliver a consistent, personalised and more enjoyable in-store experience for shoppers and consumers. With the pandemic driving people online and accelerating digitalisation of the retail industry, consumer expectations are greater than ever.
Planet, a global technology leader providing integrated software, payment and technology solutions, has today announced it’s adding its payments solution to the Proximis software platform. This combination empowers retailers – specifically front-line associates – to deliver a true, connected, omni-channel shopping experience from one modern Android device*, saving time for shoppers and associates.
The fully integrated platform drives sales growth and helps associates work to maximum efficiency. It does this by connecting all stock management systems with payments, bringing together retailers’ existing physical infrastructure with their online stores to solve complex commerce problems, including Click & Collect and inventory management.
Shoppers benefit from endless aisles giving them a wider choice of products. This is thanks to the inventory management tools granting associates on the shop floor full access to view all their company’s stock, across various warehouses and in other stores. Associates can arrange delivery and take payment on the spot, reducing queues and providing a superior in-store experience.
The Click & Collect tool drives customers in-store by allowing them to buy their desired item online, to then come into the store and pick it up on the day of purchase, opening up opportunities for associates to sell more products and increase average basket.
Retailers also benefit from better stock rotation, giving them the capacity to use the store stock for home delivery using ship from store to process orders coming in from the ecommerce website. This means there is less stock left in store at the end of the season.
Discussing the announcement, Tim Goodwin, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Planet, said:
“We’re giving retail associates superpowers with our new offering. By combining our software and payments systems we’re putting unrivalled power and insights into their hands so they can deliver highly personalised customer engagements which increase conversion and uplift sales.
“Real time access to stock levels at the moment of purchase is ground breaking for retail associates, helping provide their shoppers with the choice and convenience they now demand.
“Add the Click & Collect offering, and retailers can expect to see in-store traffic increase significantly.”
Planet completed the acquisition of Proximis in December 2021, with the aim to extend its reach in the retail industry.
