Vanta, the leading trust management platform, announced today that it has appointed David Eckstein as its Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. Eckstein will oversee accounting, finance and investor relations, reporting directly to Vanta’s CEO Christina Cacioppo.
“David’s depth of financial experience and nuanced understanding of the security and technology industries will be instrumental to Vanta as we continue accelerating our market leadership in service of our mission to secure the internet,” said Cacioppo. “His disciplined financial leadership coupled with a proficiency in navigating emerging industries and markets is a tremendous asset to Vanta as we embark on our next chapter of hypergrowth.”
Bringing nearly a decade of security experience to Vanta, Eckstein most recently served as CFO of Menlo Security, Inc., overseeing finance, accounting, human resources, recruiting, and legal. During his tenure, he raised over $200 million across three rounds of financing and helped the company expand to over 10 countries. Prior to Menlo Security, Eckstein was the Head of Finance for Cisco Cloud Security, via its $635 million acquisition of OpenDNS, where he served as Senior Director of Finance. Before OpenDNS, Eckstein was a Senior Finance Manager at Box where he focused on corporate finance, capital markets, investor relations and treasury.
Eckstein began his career as a technology, media and telecommunications banker at Barclays in New York. He obtained his BSBA from Washington University, and earned his MSc in Finance from the London School of Economics.
“I’m thrilled to join Christina and the rest of the team to build on Vanta’s strong foundation of operational rigor and capital efficiency,” said Eckstein. “They have built an industry-defining platform that’s reimagining how global companies monitor, improve and demonstrate their security and trustworthiness.”
Last month, Vanta announced its acquisition of Trustpage to accelerate its enterprise momentum and transform trust into a marketable advantage for companies around the world. Vanta and Trustpage’s combined solution provides a real-time, single source of truth for an organization’s security posture that’s verified to meet industry gold standards. By automating time-consuming and tedious workflows and improving customers’ ability to communicate their security policies, Vanta helps customers quicken deal cycles and grow their business faster.
In 2022, Vanta nearly doubled its customer base to serve over 4,000 companies across 58 countries, while expanding its global footprint with offices in Australia, Ireland and the U.S. Over the past year, Vanta raised $150 million in funding from leading investors Craft Ventures, Sequoia and Y Combinator and security industry pioneers like CrowdStrike, bringing the company’s total amount raised to $203 million at a $1.65 billion valuation.
